Overview
Banana Moon Day Nursery Catterick Garrison opened in March 2016 and provides a caring, loving and secure environment for children from birth to five years of age.
The purpose-built nursery is light and airy and the facilities include both an indoor soft-play and two outdoor play areas for all age groups. There are three rooms catering for children from 3 months to 2 years in the Baby Moons Room, 2 years to 3 years in the Mini Moons Room and 3 years to 5 years in the Full Moons Room.
Activities in the nursery include French Forest School classes, football, Music and Dance sessions. The children also spend time in the local community and take part in community projects.
The Nursery manager Jayne Garbutt has over 25 years experience working in the childcare sector and is a qualified Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development. Karen Garbutt is the Deputy Manager and holds a level 3 for the Children's and Young People's Workforce.
Karen, the nursery's chef works in a well-equipped kitchen, providing a wide range of healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for all ages. The nursery is well resourced for and staff have suitable qualifications and experience to cater for any dietary requirements including allergies. Menus are reviewed frequently to ensure they meet the needs of the children, including finding out which meals they like and dislike.
Quality of care and learning is provided to the highest standard at every stage of a child’s development. To reinforce this the staff are a minimum of Level 3 qualified or working towards the qualification. The nursery has practitioners with Level 5 qualifications.
The nursery recognises the importance of skilled and qualified practitioners and their continuing professional development. A number of practitioners are studying towards Team Leader and Management qualifications, as well as apprentices working towards Level 2 and 3 in Early Years.
