York House is an independent school for girls and boys aged 3-13, in school years that is for children in Nursery to Y8. The school was founded in 1910 and has been located in our stunning location just outside Croxley Green in Hertfordshire since 1966.
We have responsibility for making sure that every year we get better at what we do. The past is relevant – as a history teacher, We appreciate that – but it should not be dominant. The working world our children will enter is not easy to predict, but my experience to date suggests that candidates who display our three pupil aims will always be successful: a positive outlook, a sense of self-reliance, and being someone who “leaves people and places better than we find them.”
At York House, we believe in a broad and enjoyable education. Most schools would say that, but the provision within the school day of sport, music, art, drama, outdoor education and also our 90+ co-curricular clubs is remarkable. This school is not an exam factory – those are available in the area - but we think there should be room in a child’s experience for joy, wonder, pleasure and adventure.
