Wimbledon High School Gdst
Overview
Wimbledon's High's first Headmistress was principled, pioneering and bold in articulating the radical vision that "women have minds as well worth educating as men's".
We are proud to share that history and proud to be part of the GDST; we know how girls tick and how to get the best out of them.
Underlying everything is our warm and caring community, where girls can grow and become independent while supporting each other. They truly can be themselves, away from the social pressures of a media-driven world.
The girls are encouraged to find and use their voices - to stand up for what they believe in and to help the causes of others. From celebrating International Women’s Day and our annual ‘Mad 4 Padz’ charity collection of sanitary products to our annual Because I’m a Girl walk on behalf of Plan International UK, and our charity work with a girls’ orphanage in Sri Lanka, our students are engaged in trying to help their less advantage peers.Academically, being a girls’ school means playing to girls' strengths, in our style of teaching, in the structure of our school day (and length of lessons) and in choosing to be an A Level school.
School Aims
Wimbledon High School's aim and approach to education, development and community are centred around our girls Stepping In and Striding Out.
Stepping In
We aim for every girl to feel known, supported, confident and able to shine at Wimbledon High.
Striding Out
We aim for every girl to leave us prepared to shape the society in which she lives and works.
