We are delighted that you have decided to find out more about West Lodge Preparatory School and hope that our website contains all of the information you need and gives you an insight into our school.
West Lodge is a small independent school with a strong family ethos which encourages each child to develop as an individual. Our aim is to provide a secure and intellectually challenging environment, based on a broad and balanced curriculum, which will enable each child to feel safe and to regard themselves as valued and successful, thereby developing and maintaining high self-esteem. Our children are well motivated and have very high expectations of their own individual achievements.
Education is a three-way partnership between parent, teacher and pupil and we are keen to develop and promote this important relationship. As a parent myself, I fully appreciate choosing the right school for your child is the most important decision you can make on their behalf. You will be entrusting into our care your most treasured possession.
It is a privilege to lead an outstanding team of staff and one of the pleasures of working at a small school is that I know all of the children personally. I have been fortunate to work at a number of very good schools, including leadership roles as Deputy Head Prep at Brentwood School, one of the largest 3-18 independent schools in the South East, and as Headmaster of Gatehouse School in London.
As Head I see it as a priority that I teach and believe strongly in involving the children in their learning, which must be engaging and enjoyable. High standards are central to my educational philosophy, but it is equally important that the children have the confidence to embrace challenge and that we celebrate the progress which they make. I firmly believe we do this well and invite you to visit where you will see for yourselves how your child will achieve and thrive at West Lodge School.
We look forward to welcoming you in the very near future and would like to thank you for the interest you have shown in our school.
