A warm welcome to the Welbeck DSFC (Defence Sixth Form College) website which I trust you will find both interesting and informative.
Almost all of our students are selected for entry to the college by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and are engaged in the Defence Technical Officer and Engineer Entry Scheme (DTOEES). Post A level, students from Welbeck progress through university and initial officer training before joining the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force or the Civil Service (MoD) as a technical or engineering officer.
The College is committed to creating an environment where young men and young women grow in self-confidence, thrive academically and make the most of the many opportunities on offer; we pride ourselves on the collective pursuit of excellence.
As you would expect in a college linked to the armed forces, life here for both students and staff is underpinned by a strong sense of service/purpose; they are expected to put others before themselves – to put the team first.
Welbeck DSFC is due to close at the end of the summer term 2021, following a review of DTOEES by the Ministry of Defence. As a result, September 2019 saw the last intake of students and this year (2020/21) the student body numbers approximately 150, all of whom are in the U6.
Unlike most sixth-form colleges, Welbeck offers the full benefits of a boarding education where you learn with like-minded individuals. Our students come from a wide variety of educational, social and cultural backgrounds from all over the UK and from UK families living overseas. All are focussed on their future careers, creating an environment where there is a real sense of purpose and determination to achieve.
Having demonstrated that you have the personal skills to adapt to a residential environment you will continue to develop respect for the other members of the community and be expected to contribute positively to all aspects of College life.
You will be encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to you for personal development, as would be expected of any potential officer or MOD civil servant.
