Teapot Trust is a Scottish charity providing a UK wide programme of art therapy in hospitals and communities to support the wellbeing of children with chronic conditions and their families.
We aim to build resilience in children by encouraging them to express emotions, mentally overcome the challenges linked to their condition and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
We also aim to make hospitals less frightening for children and their families by providing art therapy, giving a more positive experience of visiting hospital. We help to reduce anxiety in children during injections, blood tests and other invasive medical treatments, which can otherwise be very traumatic.
Today, Teapot Trust employs 16 art therapists, running 12 projects across 7 hospitals and other community settings from Inverness to Liverpool. We are looking to further develop our community programme in 2020, so we can reach more children and families when and where they need it most.
