Overview
Introduction from the Headmistress. 'I am delighted to have this opportunity to welcome you to RGS Springfield, with its wonderful family atmosphere and nurturing co-educational environment, which together creates a uniquely friendly school.
Our aim is to ensure that children develop their full potential academically, socially and emotionally in a safe, caring environment.
All our pupils benefit from individual care, small class sizes, professional and dedicated teaching; all of which help children become confident, secure and considerate of the needs of others.
The school has scored highly in recent inspections, rated as consistently excellent in all areas by ISI inspectors in 2022. There are a wealth of academic and extra-curricular opportunities to provide children with an enriching and stimulating environment, preparing them for the challenges of the 21st century, underpinned by traditional family values. The digital learning programme adds a new dimension to classroom learning with all teachers trained as Apple teachers and Showbie educators. The family of RGS schools is recognised internationally as an âApple Distinguished Schoolâ for the third time running.
The school has wonderful grounds, which allow pupils to play outside in all weathers, learn from the natural environment and take part in all the fun that Forest School offers; wellies are very much encouraged!
The school, tucked away within the beautiful Georgian Britannia Square in the heart of Worcester, will provide a safe and happy place for your child to grow and develop. This website conveys only some of the ethos and spirit of RGS Springfield. Please visit us and see for yourself the happy, smiling faces of children having fun and learning in a stimulating environment. We are very much a happy family with Bumble our school dog as a much loved part of school life.
I look forward to welcoming you in person to our school.'
Overview. RGS Springfield is the co-educational junior school for RGS Worcester (see HMC entry). The school educates children between the ages of 2 and 11 and is situated within a large, beautiful Georgian Town House and gardens in the centre of Worcester.
High academic standards are expected as the children are prepared to enter RGS Worcester at 11. There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer and, while the school is noted for academic, creative and sporting excellence, it is of the greatest importance that the children are encouraged to be kind, considerate and well-mannered.
In 2009 an extensive refurbishment was undertaken to restore and develop the original historic site, Springfield, providing excellent modern facilities including art, design technology, science and ICT rooms alongside large, airy and warm well-equipped classrooms.
The school is set in two acres of maintained grounds, unique for a city centre location, and offers fantastic games facilities and outdoor space, including an extended Forest School, Walled Garden and Paddock Play Area. We can use senior school facilities very easily such as a full-sized astroturf, science labs, textile rooms and gym/dance studios as we are located over the road from RGS Worcester.
Charitable status. The Royal Grammar School Worcester is a Registered Charity, number 1120644.
