Overview
Location. The school is set in its own grounds on the outskirts of Droitwich Spa and only minutes from the M5/M42 interchange. It serves families from Droitwich Spa, Bromsgrove and a wide area of North Worcestershire. Minibus transport is provided between school and Droitwich Spa station and many pupils take advantage of the excellent local rail network.
Curriculum and teaching. From Reception through to Year 3 emphasis is on literacy and numeracy and children are taught as a class group, with specialist input in ICT, French, Music, PE and DT. From Year 4 all subjects are specialist taught and in Year 5 and 6, increasing use is made of senior facilities to enhance learning opportunities. Throughout Years 7 and 8, in addition to the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, RE and PE, all girls learn French, Spanish, Geography, History, Art, Music and Textiles. Girls in Year 9 choose their GCSE options, for which all girls take English, Mathematics and Science (either triple award or dual award). There is a choice of modern languages, humanities and creative subjects. Class sizes are small, expectations are high, teachers are well qualified and experienced and the individual is paramount.
Extracurricular activities. The school offers a stimulating and diverse range of extracurricular opportunities. Creative Arts, Music, Outdoor Activities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Sport are all catered for.
Scholarships. RGS Dodderhill awards three scholarships after the Entrance Examinations.
The Booker Scholarship â academic award for a current pupil moving to Year Seven, worth £1,000.
Price Scholarship â academic award for an external candidate entering Year Seven, worth the equivalent of one termâs fees.
Davidson Music Scholarship â awarded to any girl entering the school in Year Seven, worth £1,000 a year. Please call the Registrar if you would like details of the audition requirements for the Music Scholarship.
Bursaries. The number of Bursaries varies each year according to need. If you do receive a means-tested award it will be reviewed annually to ensure that financial assistance is only given where there is real need.
