Little Wellies Day Nursery Idle
Little Wellies Day Nursery
Overview
Little Wellies Idle is set in a beautiful stone, detached building, close to the village centre, which is easily accessible, but set back from the main road. Children have access to a wealth of resources, a vast amount of outside space and a wonderful, interactive sensory room, which is used by all ages. The highly-qualified and experienced staff team teach the children through “child-led,” “in the moment” learning, through a wide range of play activities.
We ensure that children are captivated and engrossed in their learning through beautiful, authentic resources and skilful interactions by practitioners. You will see few “toys” at Little Wellies, Idle. After all, why use a plastic “play” tea set when a real ceramic one is much more enticing? Our Idle nursery is split into two large, spacious rooms, each of which takes up almost the whole of each floor of this beautiful building. Our Under 2½ year old room us upstairs and is called “Raindrops.” It is led by a highly-qualified and experienced Under 2s practitioner, who was previously an “outstanding” local child minder. Children are given access to a wide range of beautiful resources and learning experiences that develop all of their prime areas of learning, such as an indoor gym, a built in sandpit and cosy, real-life role play area.
The staff to child ratio is 1:3 for our youngest children and 1:4 for our oldest. At around the age of 2½ our children move downstairs to our huge, bright and airy ground floor room, “Sunbeams.” You will not find many manufactured “toys” here, but you will find a wealth of play and learning opportunities for every child, from a home-made “Playdough Station” to a junk model sculpture area. The children are engaged through meaningful, creative play experiences, using authentic resources.
