Overview

Barrow Hills Nursery is a safe, sociable and supportive nursery in which children can explore, grow in confidence, make friends and, most importantly, have fun. Their dedicated EYFS qualified staff are warm and approachable and want the very best for your child. They create a genuine family feel from the very first day, as well as provide regular updates to you. They're a traditional yet forward-thinking nursery where state of the art technology is embedded in children's development.

Your child can join their "Nursery" class from their 2nd birthday and will move into their "Kindy" class in the school year they turn 4. Children would move into Reception in the school year your child turns 5. In Nursery, where the pupil:teacher ratio is 1:4, small groups of children are gently nurtured through playing independently and with others to develop self-confidence. In Kindy, where the pupil:teacher ratio is 1:8, children will have specialist teachers for music, French, PE and ballet and will have a gradual integration with older children to ensure easy progression into Reception.

What will my child do at nursery? Each day is a varied mix of child-initiated play such as the sandpit, water table, playhouse, construction, imagination and teacher-led sessions including stories, reading, singing, movement, music, arts and crafts and simple cooking. Children have gently supervised outdoor play enabling daily exploration of the outdoor learning environment. They promote sensible and healthy eating with milk or water and small fruit and biscuit snacks at break, followed by a hot nutritious lunch, homemade in their kitchens.

Nursery children may be dropped at school from 8.15am. The school day finishes at 3.15pm and children may stay in the Pre-Prep Club until 6pm.

EYFE funding is available for morning classes for 3-4 year olds, starting in Kindy and continuing through to Reception up to the age of 5.
