You can shortlist the schools based on their reviews and Ofsted reports. You can book some show arounds of the schools. Once you are visited then you can ask all your questions to the head teachers. It would be best if somehow you can speak with the existing parents and their experience with the school. once you have finalised the schools, you can share the names with your borough.
