The aims of this session are grounded in emotion coaching techniques and will support you to identify children's triggers for emotion dysregulation, and to create environments that promote and support self-regulation.
This session will help to strengthen your relationships with children by engaging in emotionally-regulatory interactions that soothe the child and support a return to a regulated state.
By the end of this session, you will
understand how to receive the emotional communications of children through empathic responses
identify opportunities for co-regulation with children
understand the role of the adult in co-regulating the emotions of a dysregulated child
understand and identify the resources that can support emotional regulation within the environemtn of your setting
identify practical, compassionate approaches to support children's emotional regulation
This session recommends that school-aged care and learning professionals recognise a child's dysregulated behaviour patterns and focus on emotion coaching experiences that will support children's developing emotional self-awareness and regulation.
